"God writes the Gospel not in the Bible alone, but also on trees, and in the flowers and clouds and stars."

Martin Luther

Active in LutherCountry

LutherCountry offers a wide range of outdoor activities for all you adventurers out there! One could even argue that spending at least a few days of your journey on bike, foot or boat would be a more authentic way of exploring the birthplace of the Reformation; after all, Martin Luther and his contemporaries didn't have the conveniences of cars or trains, either!

Various bike paths offer the perfect solution for those who wish to combine the region's cultural highlights with its vast and varied landscape. Better still, you can even set your own pace and take time to enjoy the many towns, restaurants, and hotels along the way. LutherCountry's well developed network of high-quality hiking trails also invites guests to reconnect with nature and enjoy the rejuvenating, calming effects of spending time away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Next to hiking and biking, LutherCountry has several other exciting options that'll get your heart pumping and adrenaline flowing. The Treetop Trail in the Hainich National Park, for example, is not only part of a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site, but also a chance to see LutherCountry from a bird's eye view! This (wheelchair-accessible) trail soars between 33 and 82 feet above the ground, offering spectacular views across 18,500 acres of lush, green forests. Better yet, why not take advantage of Northern LutherCountry's "Blue Ribbon" initiative and explore LutherCountry from the water? How does canoeing down the Saale or Unstrut River past rolling vineyards and grassy meadows sound? Or feeling the wind in your hair while sailing across the largest man-made lake in Germany?

These are just a few examples of the many outdoor activities that'll make your time here even more unforgettable!
