"How soon 'not now' becomes 'never'!"
As one of the last LutherCities to adopt the principles of the Reformation, Luther often visited Dessau to preach to the community at St. Mary’s Church. His most important visit was in 1534 when he offered Communion to the people the Thursday before Easter. Today, visitors can marvel at breathtaking examples of Reformation artwork at the Anhalt Picture Gallery inside the Georgium Palace, many of which were done by the famous Cranach family. The Anhalt Picture Gallery is also one of the many exciting stops on the "In the Footsteps of Cranach" tourist route that runs through Bavaria, Saxony, and of course LutherCountry!
